Datatables plugin issue on IE8 (Javascript Error)

    Hello,

The datatables plugin configured in the metronic does not work on IE8.

A Javascript error pops when you try to configure a table.

You can see the problem accessing the page  http://keenthemes.com/preview/metronic/theme/admin_3/table_datatables_managed.html using the IE8 (on Win XP or emulated).

Our project has a large base of users using Win XP (sad but true) and it is very important to maintain the compatibility with IE8. That is why we choose Metronic.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

    Thanks,

    Marcel

    Hi,

In Metronic v4.6 we updated to the latest DataTables 1.10.12 and seems this version has this issue on IE8. We have tried track the issue but it seems the issue is in the core of the plugin so we have to wait for the official fix. In the meantime i would suggest you to use the previous version of the datatables from v4.5.6 and use it with v4.6.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for your reply. I have applied a workaround as follows. The root cause is because the IE8 does not support the methods “Object.keys” and also “Array.prototype.forEach”. These functions are used by the datatables sub-plugins to export data to excel or pdf. If you add these functions when the browser is IE8, then the Datatables plugin works properly.

It would be great not having this issue in future releases.  🙂

    Thanks in advance,

    Marcel
