To use most of the Metronic build tools, Node.js LTS version is required. Some of the plugins and framework in Metronic does not yet support the latest Node.js version.

Updating Keen

Like all HTML templates, you will need to manually handle all updates that we provide after purchase for free. The best practice is to always keep Keen's source folder on an entire separate folder within your project and then use Keen as a development companion or support.

To handle the Keen's HTML code more efficiently you can use Keen's layout builders that available for each demo within the preview site for example Demo1 Demo's Layout Builder. To learn more you can check out Keen's Video Tutorials.

We highly recommend that you use Keen's Default Buildable package to fully utilise the power and flexibility of Keen's Build Tools, which you can rapidly configure, compile and deploy all the necessary Keen assets directly into your project folder.

Each update should be used independently without mixing it with the previous versions. This is because new updates may not have a 100% backward compatibility for elements within previous versions. Therefore, each update is considered as a new and better version of the theme.

Here's our recommended steps needed to update Keen effectively.

  1. Backup all your files (your project folder and Keen's older version).
  2. Review Keen's changelog to have a quick preview on what has been updated.
  3. Unzip the latest version of Keen and then browse through the elements (layout, widgets, plugins, etc) that you have used on your project.
  4. Get the latest version use it instead the previous version.
  5. Run yarn install task to update 3rd party plugins with their latest versions.
  6. Compare your project's code vs the latest version of Keen's code for the used elements.
  7. Manually replace the element HTML, CSS or JS where necessary.
  8. Save and test your project files with Keen's updated elements.
If something goes wrong, you can revert your updates by reusing your backup files.
